Forests
The forest area of Costa Rica will surprise you with its different types of forests throughout the Costa Rican territory.
This small country has several types of forests, among which the humid tropical forest, dry tropical forest, wetlands and mangroves.
These forests are home to 6% of the world’s biodiversity and many of them are part of protected areas, National Parks, Biological Reserves and bird counting areas, as part of the great efforts made by the country so that most of its forest territory is protected.
Volcanoes
Although small in territory, Costa Rica is home to more than 200 formations identified volcanics, some of them are active. Most volcanoes are located in the highlands of Costa Rica.
World famous giants such as Turrialba, Irazú, Poás or the imposing Arenal volcano with its conical shape await you to enhance your vacation.
National Parks
World renowned for its preservation efforts, Costa Rica has 25% of its territory protected.
There are around 169 protected areas in different categories, some of which work hand in hand with the local government or environmental organizations in conservation.

Do you want to know about species of animals in their natural habitat? Costa Rica is the best place to do it! Within the Costa Rican territory, for specific times of the year, species such as toucans, whales, sloths, quetzals, monkeys, sea turtles, snakes, dolphins, limpets, tapirs and even pumas and jaguars can be spotted.
According to the official bird count, our territory is home to around 900 species of birds; in addition to numerous species of plants and trees including savanna oak, orchids, Cortés Amarillo, Malinche and Guachipelín among others.
